Para los pacientes con c\u00e1ncer el riesgo de morir en un hospital se redujo en un 56% entre los consumidores de cannabis en comparaci\u00f3n con los no consumidores. Este es el resultado de un an\u00e1lisis de los enfermos hospitalizados seg\u00fan la base de datos estadounidense entre 2007 y 2011, que cubre alrededor de 1.000 hospitales, realizado por investigadores de las universidades del Norte de Colorado, la Estatal de Colorado y la de Alabama. La base de datos inclu\u00eda alrededor de 3&#8217;9 millones de pacientes hospitalizados, de los cuales 387.608 ten\u00edan un diagn\u00f3stico de dependencia o abuso al cannabis.<\/p>\n<p>Concretamente, entre los enfermos hospitalizados, el consumo de cannabis se asoci\u00f3 con un aumento de la probabilidad del 60% de sufrir un accidente cerebrovascular (OR: 1&#8217;60, IC del 95%: 1&#8217;44-1&#8217;77) en comparaci\u00f3n con los no consumidores, pero un 22% redujo las probabilidades de insuficiencia cardiaca (OR: 0&#8217;78; IC del 95%: 0&#8217;75-0&#8217;82) y el 14% redujo las probabilidades de enfermedad cardiaca (OR: 0&#8217;86, IC del 95%: 0&#8217;82-0&#8217;91). El riesgo de mortalidad intrahospitalaria se redujo en un 59% (OR: 0&#8217;41; IC del 95%: 0&#8217;38-0&#8217;44). Entre los pacientes con c\u00e1ncer, la probabilidad de mortalidad intrahospitalaria se redujo significativamente en un 56% entre los consumidores de cannabis en comparaci\u00f3n con los no consumidores (OR: 0&#8217;44, IC del 95%: 0&#8217;35-0&#8217;55). Los autores del estudio afirman que \u00abes necesario estudios prospectivos para caracterizar mejor los efectos en la salud del consumo de marihuana, especialmente entre los pacientes mayores, enfermos y\/o hospitalizados\u00bb.
